About Adam Marcus

I came to Eastern practice through the back door — not through a yoga studio, but through a martial arts school in Media, Pennsylvania, where I started training in Ryukyu Kempo as a kid. What drew me in wasn't the fighting. It was the discipline, the attention, the way serious practice asked you to show up fully to what you were doing. That thread has never left me.

Over the next three decades I followed it wherever it led: to yoga, to Budokon, to mindfulness meditation, to fourteen years co-owning and teaching at Enso Yoga & Meditation Studio in Pennsylvania. I trained with Jack Kornfield and Tara Brach in a two-year intensive meditation teacher certification program. I studied with David Nichtern at Tibet House in New York. I've held a third-degree black belt for twenty years, a 200-hour Yoga Alliance certification, and have taught everyone from beginners finding their first seated breath to Division III college athletes using movement and meditation to sharpen their game.

I'm also an attorney. That's not a footnote — it shapes how I teach. I know what it's like to live inside a demanding professional life and still try to carve out something quieter and more grounded. Most of my students aren't looking to become yogis. They're looking for a way to feel less reactive, more present, more at home in their own bodies. That's exactly what I'm here for.

What I offer isn't a method or a brand. It's a genuine practice, taught with care, built on a lot of years of showing up on the mat and the cushion — and making plenty of mistakes along the way.

If you've been meaning to start meditating, or come back to movement, or just need someone to actually explain what any of this is for — I'd be glad to work with you.
